BVB opens on the rise first session in 2009

Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) opened on the rise the first session of 2009, after record falls last year.
The quotations of the listed stocks went up, on Monday, by 0.81 percent, on the average, with the trend measured by the composite index BET-C. The stocks of the SIF financial investment companies surged 2.32 percent (the BET-FI index). The trading on BVB stood at around 25,000 euros.
The BET index, reflecting the trends of the most liquid ten shares traded registered a surge of 1.8 percent, and the extended blue-chip index BET-XT rose 1.62 percent. The BET-NG index of the companies in the field of energy and utilities surged 2.77 percent.
BVB closed the year 2008, the most difficult for the Romanian capital market since the re-opening of BVB, in 1995, with a fall of over 70 percent.
The main index of BVB went down 70.5 percent, and the BET-FI index of the SIFs saw a 84 percent fall. These are the highest negative variations in the history of the two indices. The composite index BET-C fell 70.3 percent, in 2008.
