Investors' revived attention for big company stock, say brokers
AGERPRES - Romanian News Agency - 6 Ianuarie 2009
Investors are expected to focus their attention upon the big company stock, listed with Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) in 2009, said President of Intercapital Invest brokerage house Razvan Pasol.
'Shares become interesting at current prices, although this is a gradual process. When the capital market redresses, great BVB shares, the blue-chips, will be the first to recover', Intercapital Invest President told AGERPRES.
In his opinion, Monday rises on the bourse demonstrate that the shares can easily recoup the gap compared to the markets abroad, when the local bourse was closed at the end of 2008.
Last year, Romania's capital market entered on a general downward trend, triggered by circumstances on the international financial markets and characterized by significant and prolonged declines. Intercapital Invest brokers further recommend extreme carefulness on the upcoming 12 months.
'Being cautious does not mean to completely leave aside the capital market', said Pasol, who added that those who attempt to buy at minimal prices must be careful and start their acquisitions gradually, given the 'disastrous' liquidity latest on BVB.
BVB concluded 2008, the most difficult year for the Romanian capital market since the re-opening of the Stock Exchange in 1995, with a a sharp drop of more than 70 percent.
BVB main index dropped by 70.5 percent and SIFs BET-FI Index showed a depreciation of 84 percent, these representing the largest negative variations in the history of the two indicators. Composite BET-C Index declined in 2008 by 70.3 percent.
