Open-end fund administrators amass 78 mln euro from 2008 investments

Open-end investment funds (UCITS - undertakings for collective investment in transferable securities) reported net underwriting worth more than 78 million euro in 2008, while monetary and bond funds collectively amassed some 85 million euro, according to the data submitted to Agerpres by the Romanian Association of Fund Administrators.
On 31 December 2008, the net asset value of the open-end investment funds and of other undertakings for collective investment reached 1.02 billion lei, whereas open-end funds reported a net asset value of 940 million lei. One euro was traded at 3.98 lei on December 31, 2008.
Monetary funds recorded a net asset value of 349 million lei, while bond and diversified funds reported a net asset value of 246 million lei and 202 million lei, respectively.
The cumulated net assets of monetary and bond funds account for 63 percent of the total net assets of open-end funds, of which more than 37 percent from monetary funds.
The number of investments in monetary funds rose in December by more than 185 percent against the beginning of 2008.
Some 15 new funds were launched in 2008, of which 11 were open-ended.T he main players on the market are BCR Asset Management, with assets worth 381.7 million lei (40.6 pct), BRD Asset Management, holding assets valued at 133.6 million lei (14.2 pct) and Raiffeisen Asset Management - 79.8 million lei (8.5 pct of the market).
