Deloitte Central Europe adds 17 new Partners
DELOITTE CONSULTANTA S.R.L. - 4 Iunie 2008
Bucharest, May 26, 2008 – Deloitte Central Europe has temporarily moved its headquarters from Prague to Bucharest, last week, with management from 17 countries attending the New Partners Meeting, an event which marked the official appointment of 17 new Partners and a new CEO.
“Hosting such an event has been a historic moment for us, and no doubt Bucharest will always be remembered with fondness by our guests,” said Maksim Caslli, Office Managing Partner with Deloitte Balkans, which includes Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, Albania and Kosovo.
He continued: “Romania has been an important reference for Deloitte’s growth in Central and Eastern Europe, in the past few years, reporting an average 40% growth in revenues year on year. It is thus more than appropriate that our new Partners should assume their positions in a country where Deloitte has been so successful.”
Out of the 17 new Partners of Deloitte CE, three have been selected from the Balkan cluster: Partner Legal Services Alexandru Reff and Partner Transaction Services Antonis Ioannides, both in Romania, and Partner Enterprise Risk Services Daniel Steward-Robert from Bulgaria.
Antonis Ioannides, 41, said: “The Deloitte CE team is working hard to establish the firm as the Number 1 practice in Central and South East Europe. This is indeed an incredible experience. Deloitte’s Financial Advisory Services has already established a foothold as the leading practice in Romania, thanks to a great team effort I have been part of.”
Alexandru Reff, 32, added: “Partnership admission is the most important milestone in my career, but I am acutely aware of the challenges lying ahead as we are striving to establish Deloitte as the first choice for the premium clients and the most talented people in our market.”
In a separate move, Deloitte Central Europe CEO Bob van Nes has officially announced his retirement, handing over the helm to Michael Barrington, Audit Partner.
The new CEO has been with the firm since 1992. He specializes in working with overseas clients who establish businesses or acquire companies in Poland. He serves a large portfolio of audit clients. He also has extensive experience in financial due diligence assignments. In 2000, Michael became the Chief Operating Officer and, subsequently, Office Managing Partner of the Polish practice. Apart from his administrative functions, he continues to serve a number of the firm’s major clients. He specializes in audit, due diligence and financial analysis engagements. He has detailed knowledge of UK GAAP and IAS and is familiar with Polish Accounting Standards.
Deloitte Central Europe spans 17 countries, but operates as one cohesive entity with more than 3,500 people. Overall, Deloitte CE has more than 100 Partners specialized in different functions within the firm: audit, tax and legal services, consulting and financial advisory services. Annual revenues for the fiscal year ending May 2008 are estimated at 300 million Euro.
Deloitte Romania reported for the whole 2007 year a turnover exceeding 27,5 million Euro, up 45% compared to 2006. The practice, active on the market for more than 15 years, has recently opened its second office, in Cluj-Napoca, also planning two more opening by the end of the year.
