A Romanian manager take over the management of Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo

Bucharest, July 15th 2008 - Raiffeisen International appointed Bogdan Merfea as the new CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of its Kosovo subsidiary - Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo J.S.C. Until now, Bogdan Merfea coordinated the Sales and Distribution Area of Raiffeisen Bank Romania and take over the new position from Mr. Oliver J Whittle.

Bogdan Merfea has a ten-year experience in the banking system. He joined Raiffeisen Group in 2001 when he was appointed manager of Raiffeisen Bank’s Brasov branch.
In 2004 he took over the Regional Director position of the Brasov Regional Management Center and in 2005 was appointed Executive Director of the Branch Network Management of Raiffeisen Bank.
While Bogdan Merfea was occupying this position, the bank’s network witnessed an unprecedented development, expanding from 215 units in 2005 to over 500 at this date. Before entering the banking system, Bogdan Merfea was a Professor of Transylvania University in Brasov.
Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo was founded in November 2001 as American Bank of Kosovo, and then fully taken over and renamed by Raiffeisen International in 2003. In 2007 the bank occupied the second position in Kosovo with a market share of 35% and a total balance sheet of EUR 477 million, a network of approximately 40 units and 600 employees. Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo was named “Bank of the Year 2007” by the renowned world magazine “The Banker”.
