Victor Kevehazi, Senior Partner of KPMG Romania has been appointed
KPMG ROMÂNIA S.R.L. - 6 Iunie 2007
Victor Kevehazi, Senior Partner of KPMG Romania has been appointed to a global leadership position within KPMG International.
Victor Kevehazi, 51, is one of the leading figures in the accountancy and advisory profession in Romania. He will transfer from KPMG Romania after spending 7 years in the country, during which period he has also held a number of senior positions in the KPMG CEE region.
Victor’s successor as Senior Partner is Serban Toader, who has been with KPMG Romania since 1996. “Serban represents the new generation of highly qualified and talented Romanian professionals, who have earned swift progress on the career ladder” says Frank Dostalek, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of KPMG in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Serban, 36, became a KPMG Partner at the age of 32, and is the group leader of our staff mainly working on audits of major Romanian Banks and Financial Institutions.
“It is a great privilege to take over such a position at the head of KPMG Romania, and I am looking forward immensely to building on Victor’s extraordinary success and achievements,” says Serban. “It is also a great responsibility, but I will be counting on the commitment and experience of my colleagues to help carry the company forward. Bill Bowman, who has been with KPMG for over 30 years, will continue to support me as Deputy Senior Partner. This year we are promoting several Senior Managers to Partner status, so I have a great team to work with,” Serban adds.
“I am delighted that Serban Toader will be the next Senior Partner of KPMG in Romania. He is an exceptional professional and I am sure that the firm will continue to prosper in his hands. I have enjoyed my time at KPMG in Romania immensely and it has been a huge privilege to be the Senior Partner of the Romanian firm. The opportunities and experiences I have had – together with the people I have met and the lasting friendships I have developed - are all something I will cherish” says Victor.
Victor’s time in Romania has been one of extraordinary development both for the country and for KPMG. Romania has moved from economic stagnation to strong growth, spurred on by EU accession, and new opportunities have been emerging all the time in key sectors. Victor has thoroughly enjoyed the excitement and challenge of working in Romania in this “special” period, and has insisted that KPMG has always been well placed to take advantage of these new opportunities.
When Victor arrived in Romania, he saw one of his most important tasks as identifying the new leadership which would take KPMG forward. Since then, KPMG has quadrupled its number of employees and its revenue. At the end of 2006, KPMG moved to a large , new purpose built office equipped with the latest in modern facilities for staff and clients, with ample extra space for the company’s planned expansion. “I have always believed in investing in people, who are our greatest asset” says Victor. “One of the most satisfying experiences I have had during my time as Senior Partner here has been to see so many talented Romanian staff grow in their professional development.” Finding leaders is difficult, but KPMG’s extraordinary growth in the last few years shows that Victor made the right choices. KPMG’s commitment to its people is reflected in very high levels of staff satisfaction. KPMG is a company whose staff have a strong sense of loyalty, and are prepared to make extra efforts for the good of the firm and its clients. It is a friendly place to work (open door policy and first names used from junior staff to senior partner), with a lively social scene inside and outside the office. Victor has always encouraged a culture of openness among staff, which is critical to the positive working atmosphere in the firm, and to the development of Employer of Choice status.
“At KPMG we discuss our ideas and concerns freely, and this not only leads to good relations among staff, but also makes us more efficient because we work better as a team,” says Bill Bowman, Deputy Senior Partner.
A striking feature of Victor’s leadership has been his deep commitment to KPMG’s wider role in the community through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. “Strong business should work in harmony with strong communities” says Victor “and I have much enjoyed developing KPMG Romania’s CSR programmes, which have given me the chance to get to know committed people from outside the world of business.” Among other CSR initiatives during Victor’s time as Senior Partner, KPMG has donated surplus IT equipment to schools and charities, as well as sponsoring artists, holding several exhibitions in its offices, encouraging partners to perform pro bono work.
“I feel that now is the right time for change – and believe I will be leaving KPMG in Romania at a time when it is in excellent shape, has a very strong leadership team going forward, and is seeing exceptional growth and performance in key areas of the market”, concluded Kevehazi.
